Abstract

L'interdipendenza tra giustizia intergenerazionale, reddito intragenerazionale e povertà patrimoniale è una questione complessa a cavallo tra filosofia, politica, economia e diritto. Una domanda cruciale è se la disuguaglianza aumenti automaticamente quando c'è un progresso sociale generale. In caso affermativo, è giustificato frenare questa crescente disuguaglianza con vigorose contromisure, e cosa si dovrebbe fare per raggiungere questo obiettivo? Oppure, se il crescente progresso generale e la crescente disuguaglianza vanno inevitabilmente di pari passo, il progresso generale dovrebbe essere completamente abbandonato? A quest'ultima domanda è stata data una risposta negativa. Invece, è stato presentato un modo moralmente legittimo per contrastare la crescente disuguaglianza, vale a dire attraverso le tasse sulle successioni e sulle donazioni.

Abstract (english)

The interdependency between intergenerational justice and intragenerational income and wealth poverty is a complex issue at the interface of philosophy, politics, economics and law. A crucial question is whether inequality automatically increases when there is general social progress. If so, is it justified to curb this growing inequality with vigorous countermeasures, and what would have to be done to achieve this? Or, if growing general progress and growing inequality inevitably go hand in hand, should general progress be completely abandoned? This last question was answered in the negative. Instead, a morally legitimate way to counter growing inequality was presented, namely through inheritance and gift taxes.
