Teresa Caporale, Dalla morte di Dio alla libertà come condanna L’esistenzialismo ateo di Jean Paul Sartre

Abstract

Questo saggio prende le mosse da un esame dei tratti peculiari del xx secolo, individuandone nel nichilismo la principale categoria esplicativa. Nel corso dell’analisi viene mostrato che in tale clima di crisi delle certezze, il tema nietzschiano della morte di Dio e nello specifico l’interrogativo sugli esiti e sulla portata di tale evento epocale, ritorni al centro del discorso filosofico di uno degli intellettuali più rappresentativi del tempo, Jean Paul Sartre.
L’idea che si intende sviluppare è che la crisi dell’intera tradizione occidentale, annunciata da Nietzsche, possa essere ripensata, sulla scia di Sartre, a partire dalla struttura ontologica dell’individuo novecentesco, riconducibile al soggetto sartriano, un uomo libero, ma la cui libertà è paradossalmente la sua più dura e strutturale condanna.

Abstract (english)

This essay takes as its starting point an analysis of the distinctive features of the 20th century, identifying nihilism as its main explanatory category. Within the contribution, it is shown how, in such a climate of crisis of certainties, the Nietzschean theme of the death of God, and specifically the questioning of the outcome and scope of such an epochal event, returned to the centre of the philosophical debate with one of the most representative intellectuals of the time, Jean Paul Sartre.
The idea that we intend to develop is that the crisis of the entire Western tradition, announced by Nietzsche, can be rethought, in the wake of Sartre, starting from the ontological structure of the twentieth-century individual, traceable to the Sartrian subject, a free man, but whose freedom is paradoxically his harshest and most structural condemnation.
