V. Giambastiani, Capitini e la nonviolenza. Oltre il pacifismo

Abstract

Il presente articolo intende analizzare il pensiero di Aldo Capitini, focalizzando in modo particolare sulla questione della nonviolenza e sul suo metodo. La prospettiva capitiniana dimostra che la nonviolenza non riguarda solo un agire politico, ma coinvolge l’individuo stesso in tutto il suo essere e in tutto il suo agire. È quindi un cambiamento radicale, una tramutazione dell’animo umano. La nonviolenza così intesa non può essere perciò interpretata come una forma di pacifismo inerte e teorico. Al contrario la nonviolenza capitiniana richiede il più grande impegno qui e ora per costruire una società liberata dalla violenza.

Abstract (english)

This paper aims to deepen the concept of nonviolence that was developed by Aldo Capitini. Non-violence is not the carrying out of an order, but a conviction pervading our mind, our heart and our actions. Capitini wants to reconstruct a society in which nonviolence appears as the most powerful instrument of liberation. He expresses the hope that a new society, founded on the praxis of non-violence, would be set up. In order to obtain this outcome, he undertook numerous initiatives, meetings for peace, for political reconstruction and for nonviolence as well. For these reason, nonviolence cannot be associated with the notion of pacifism. Nonviolence is a positive, dynamic and resolute opposition to realities, to society and to humanity as constituted in the past or the present through violence, exploitation and oppression.
